Make out like it never happened, and that we were nothing.

"You may give up your purpose, but mine is assigned to me by heaven, and I dare not.  I am weak; but surely the spirits who assist my vengeance will endow me with sufficient strength" (pg 161).
If you haven't heard this song, then I recommend that you do so.  I can't decide if Gotye or Kimbra's lyrics are more likely the Frankencreature.

So you told us to blog about whether or not Victor blames himself for the happenings and I think the above quote is a major piece of the puzzle.  In the quote that I picked, Victor blatantly states that the mishaps were not his doing, but rather he was being controlled by a higher power.

Funny, the Frankencreature said the same thing about his own rage.

"I knew that I was preparing for myself a deadly torture; but I was the slave, not the master, of an impulse, which I detested, yet could not disobey" (pg 164).
While writing this blog I decided that the best way to characterize Victor, was through the Frankencreature himself. See, the two were very similar in that they were both driven by destiny, but their madness isolated each of them.  Not to mention that both of them were really tall and had yellow skin and superhuman strength extremely dedicated to the point of madness because of their passions.  Like non-biological creator, like son.
I think this blog post was pretty deep if I do say so myself.

Wait, is there a point to the letters?

His countenance instantly assumed an aspect of the deepest gloom; and he replied, "To seek the one who fled from me" (pg 10).
Should I do this blog on foreshadowing or characterization?  Let me just make a quick list of how each of these terms are portrayed in the above quote and then I'll be back to the blog.

Foreshadow:
  • The creature (as interpreted on page 8) has fled from this stranger (who I know is named Victor) and it causes Frankenstein gloom.
  • There is a reason for Frankenstein to want to find the creature.  These could range from scientific glory to fear for humanity.
  • Oh, and I suppose I should point out the obvious one.  Frankenstein creates the monster successfully.
Characterization:
  • Victor is dedicated to his creation for some reason.
  • The creature is bigger and better than Victor.
  • The creature has intelligence and something makes him want to flee.
  • Victor knows the creature is heading to the north pole.
Wait, I just figured something out.  There is clearly some epiphany coming in the upcoming chapters in the mind of Victor.  In chapter five, Victor lets the creature run away and has no second thought about it, but now he is chasing the creature to great lengths.  Why!

"How I Met My Husband"

"No, not impossible.  If I thought about Chris's face when he said he was going to write me, it was impossible, but if I forgot that and thought about the actual tin mailbox, empty, it was plain and true" (pg 146).

In this post I will be evaluating question number five which asks about the compatibility between Chris and Edie.

Okay, so Edie is a young female who works basically as a servant.  She has been mentally scarred of sorts from her previous failings, especially in school.  From what I can tell, she would do anything to feel loved.  This is further encouraged by her mistaken ideas of sex and kissing- now do I have to set my blog as an "adult blog?"  To be a good fit for Edie, you just have to be really desperate and enjoy exploiting little girls!

Our first contestant is Chris, a veteran who enjoys giving complete strangers a ride in his plane that he nearly crashed landed.  Our dear friend Chris lives a nomadic life that leads him wherever he feels that he could make a quick pay check off of the money of bored citizens.  Chris is a smoker, but don't think that means he doesn't enjoy a quick make out session in his tent between rides in his airplane.

Oh Edie, how could you fall for Chris?  Creepy stalkers are creepy.
